Couple more pictures from previous post

Apparently she's a Redskins fan? Must be the color of the jerseys (I think red is her favorite color - like her mom!) Yes, I gave up. Camila was a little difficult to deal with on Sunday, so I finally gave up when she wanted to sort through my box of letters/cards. I figured the worst that could happen is she'd tear everything into pieces. Well worth it for 10 minutes to myself on the couch! :) Don't get too excited; I don't think this is actually a "wave in progress". She was just playing with the safety gate. :) But I wanted to get a picture of her cute winter pjs!

So many updates, so little time!

Well, I'm on my toes 100% of the time now at home! Camila keeps me busy (and tired) and the days are just too short. We can't wait until Daddy comes home! :) Here are a bunch of pictures, including one of Camila "talking" to Daddy via the webcam/internet phone. We were able to talk to him a number of times over the weekend. He was able to see Camila and me; unfortunately his webcam kept crashing. It was fun; I'd ask him to "keep an eye on Camila" while I cleaned up in the kitchen, and he was able to watch her - provided she stayed within the webcam view! Snacks are the best motivator for Camila! Here she is trying to stand so she can get her apples/cheese. (With her love for cheese, there is no doubt she is her father's daughter.) ;) Wouldn't it be easier to crawl AROUND my foot rather than over? Camila when she gets cranky. I'll bet the neighbors love hearing her complain! The past few days Camila has gotten really good at pointing at things she wants. Here she is pointing (and complaining) at her baggie of snacks. Don't mess with the baby and her food! :) How to keep Camila entertained so I have a few minutes of peace? Let her play with the newspaper. Brilliant idea, I thought, until I noticed how terribly black her hands were from the ink! Notice the crossed feet - her favorite way to sit. Her little toes are always sticking up too. Why is Dad in the computer?

Random pictures

Blowing raspberries while crawling (look, even her 12 month pants are too long. Too bad they just barely fit her round belly!) :) More pictures of Camila putting things around her neck. Here she is wearing her diaper bag (and then struggling to take it off.) What we call "Camila face". She makes this all the time. Clearly she's thinking "Mom, you're nuts if you think I'm going to eat that!"

More pictures

Thought I'd share a few more pictures from today. (Yes, one of them is of her big diaper bottom. :) Camila did really well at my Grandma Nelson's funeral, and made it the whole time without a nap (and without getting overly crabby!) She crashed within 2 minutes though once we were on our way home, and just snuggled with me for 25 minutes after dinner. I decided to put her to bed early, although she'd caught her second wind after those 25 minutes of rest/snuggling. :) I forgot to write yesterday a few other things that Camila is starting to do. She loves to put everything over her head: a blanket, burp cloth, my purse straps, a pair of her tights. This afternoon I was in the kitchen, and her her plod her way in to see me. She had her tights wrapped around her neck and was coming to show off. I know I'm biased, but she is the most adorable thing! Also, she seems to understand that socks and shoes go on her feet. Everytime she gets her hands on a pair of socks or her shoes, it looks like she's trying to put them back on her feet. Pretty darn cute, if I say so myself! And tonight at dinner I decided to let her hold onto her spoon after putting a little baby food on it. She actually put the food in her mouth - twice! Although it seemed to be a fluke, because the next 10 minutes were of her chewing on the spoon, putting the wrong end in her mouth, and smooshing the food (on the spoon part) all over her hands and into her hair. ;)

11 months - a busy few weeks

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated the blog. We've had a lot going on in the Nunez household. First, Fabricio was gone for a week, so I was doing a "single-mom" test drive. It wasn't too bad, but was quite stressful at times. He came home Sept 13, and Camila turned 11 months on Sept 16. Sept 17 was a full day in some good and not so good ways. We started Camila's new daycare on Sept 17, Camila started crawling (finally!), but my Grandma Nelson died in a car accident. She was 85 years old. Given that she lived a full, long life you of course expect that phone call, but just not in the way it happened.... Unfortunately, Fabricio left yesterday, so he won't be able to attend her funeral tomorrow. So this past weekend we visited my Grandpa Nelson (who is 90). We also visited my college roomie Angie Quale and her husband Dave so we could see their beautiful new daughter Audrey. Check out her blog "Sweet Baby Quale" to see pictures. :) Oh, and of course I had a super long "honey-do" list for Fabricio, which included final baby-proofing since Camila is on the move in a big way. So, a quick update so I can crash and go to bed. Camila is finally crawling (it was a matter of finding the right incentive - a Goldfish cracker!), trying to pull herself up on everything, and she loves to open drawers (which often results in squished fingers - hence the last minute baby-proofing!). She just started waving as well, which was appropriately for the first time last night when I dropped Fabricio off at the airport! She just got her 6th tooth, and she has 2-3 molars coming in as well. Needless to say she hasn't been in the best of spirits lately. She's been waking up crying every night around 11:00pm and/or 5:00am. The first night I didn't know what was making that sound since it's been so long since she woke up in the middle of the night! She likes to hug various stuffed animals. She puts them up by her neck and squeezes as hard as she can. And her favorite things are playing hide 'n seek and peekaboo (silly girl doesn't realize that we can see her face when she puts her hands over her ears and eyebrows!) But she's so freaking adorable and we couldn't love her anymore than we do! OK, enough rambling. Time for pictures. Oh, I think my clothing dilemma is solved - with probably more clothes now than I actually need!

Just a few misc pictures

Here are a few misc pictures of Camila. I bought her some sweats and slippers yesterday, and had to post a picture of her in her new "just playing in the morning" outfit. Now that it's colder I don't want to put her in a onesie like I normally do. (In the morning I change her from her pjs to a onesie - now her sweats) and then get her dressed for the day after her first nap. There's also a picture of Camila and Fabricio before he left for London. This trip is only 1 week, then he's back for a week before leaving again. We'll sure miss him!! I also got an "action shot" of Camila clapping.

Clothing frustrations....

I just have to take a moment to vent. Because Camila is 21 lbs (65%) but only the 30% for height, I can't find clothes that fit properly! 12 month outfits are too tight in the waist, chest, and thighs, but the perfect length. 18 month outfits swim on her, are about 3 inches too long, but fit her big belly comfortably. I know many parents go through this, but now that she's starting to move more I want to make sure her clothes are comfortable and don't get in the way!

High 5s, clapping, double ear infection and 4 more teeth!

Recently Camila has learned how to give "High 5s", although she's not very consistent. Here's a picture from when she was first learning. If you hold up your hand, sometimes she'll lift her hand up to give you a "high 5", other times she just gives you a look that says "what do you want me to do with that?" She loves it though when she holds up her hand and you give her repeated "high 5s".
She also loves to clap now. EVERYTHING deserves clapping. We usually clap after she does something well, but she initiates clapping just because it's fun to do. We're now clapping in the grocery store, at Kohls, at dinner, and every where else you can imagine. It's so cute though, we don't mind. :)
Our newest favorite thing is when she scrunches up her face. I tried to get a picture of it, and while it's not the best, you get the idea. It's a face you would make if you smell something funky. And the best thing is that she makes the breathing sound at the same time.
Here's Camila in the sundress my mom made for her. She can tell she's a pretty girl. :)

As we already knew how excited Camila gets about water and pop bottles, we figured a 2 liter bottle would be a huge hit. Her eyes light up when she saw it, and she wouldn't let it go for abotu 15 minutes. You can tell we spend a lot of money on toys for Camila. ;)

Another thing Camila loves to do is hide. (Remember her "hiding" in her empty box?) Here's a couple of pictures of her hiding in a blanket tent. I'm already imagining the forts we're going to have!
You can also see her top two teeth, which just started coming in last week. She's been pretty uncomfortable lately, with her top two teeth coming in last week, the outside two bottom teeth coming in this weekend, all while fighting an on-going double ear infection. Fortunately it's only made her a little fussier than normal, but enough for us to notice that she's not comfortable. Hopefully her ear infections will clear up soon!
