7 1/2 months

Here are a few more pictures from the past 2 weeks.
Camila has recently started moving all around in her crib; we're never sure which direction she's going to be facing when we pick her up in the morning!

She'll probably hate this picture in a few years, but look at the size of her tummy! This should give you a clue as to how much she loves to eat! She eats solids at least 3 times a day, and takes around 30-35 oz of formula/breastmilk. When we had daycare start to give her solids they got confused and started giving her fewer bottles, and we noticed a difference because Camila started waking up again at night! Not cool!!! Fortunately we've gotten it figured out, and while they give her more "meals" than I'd like them to I'm not going to worry about it until I talk to her Pedi at her 9 month appt. Until then, she's a well-fed baby! :)

We tried something new at breakfast this morning. A slice of apple in this infant mesh feeding thing. Once she figured out how to use it, she wouldn't let go!

Just a picture we captured one morning this week. Always a happy girl in the morning (unlike her Mom!)

Again, just another picture, no commentary to go with it. :)

We tried out a new hairstyle this week. A ponytail works pretty well for her crazy hair! Plus she's in my favorite summer outfit. :)

No, she's not waving intentionally, but it's a cute shot.
Complaining about the wind!

She's recently started to roll to her sides, so I imagine it won't be long before she starts to roll onto her belly. She's also trying to crawl, although she doesn't get anywhere! Camila is very chatting, and is always talking to herself. She hates to be by herself, and will cry if she can't see anyone. We thought it was just her not wanting to be away from me, but she did the same thing to my mom this afternoon when Grandma & Grandpa were watching Camila. My mom stepped into the kitchen where Camila couldn't see her, and yep, she started to cry! Little girl wants to have people around her at all times!

7 months

Wow! Where have the months gone? It's hard to believe that Camila is already 7 months old! She's done so much this month, learning and doing new things every day. She's gotten her first tooth, gives us hugs and kisses (when she wants), talks all the time (it sounds like she's trying to say "baby") and is ALWAYS in a good mood. (What happened to the crying/screaming 24/7 baby?) Of course she gets upset sometimes when she's tired, but it only takes a few minutes to soothe her (or put her to sleep!) She's doing a much better job of rolling over, and is already trying to roll over as soon as we place her on her stomach. It's hard to get much tummy time now, as she'll flip over in 5 seconds! Solids are going much better, but unfortunately (but not surprisingly!) she seems to have a sweet tooth. She'll tolerate her veggies, but gets impatient if we don't give her fruit fast enough. And no problems with formula lately. :) She seems to be developing some sense of object permanence, as she cries more when she can't see me. Fortunately she has yet to cry when I drop her off at daycare. Instead, she's all smiles for the staff and digs right into playing with her toys. One morning a couple of weeks ago I stood outside the window after I dropped her off. She looked up, saw me, smiled at me for a few seconds, but then went back to playing. I think she's ok with me leaving, right? :) It makes it so much easier to leave her there every day, especially since she has to be there over 10 hours, sometimes 11 hours. She's been waking up earlier than usual the past couple of weeks (she wakes up at 4:30 or 5:00 when normally we'd wake her up at 6:00.) She goes right back to sleep, but it's still a little frustrating as I'm not getting as much sleep as I'd like. Also, I know feed her before Fabricio gets her ready, so our mornings are much more enjoyable. No more crying the entire time he gets her dressed! She's also battled a few colds the past month, and she's had a low grade fever a couple of times. Fabricio had to pick her up early from daycare at the beginning of May because her temp was 101.4 (and they send kids home at 101). It was already 4:30 though so it wasn't like it was too early!
Enjoying some nice weather. Dad was grilling some meat!

As soon as I see Dad's remote control, I grab for it. It's mine!

Mom and Camila before work

Here's me asking for more pears!

As soon as I can see the strings on Dad's sweatshirt, they're in my mouth.

I like to sleep with my hand up by my face. This, in addition to sucking on my lower lip, is how I soothe myself to sleep.

I just love this face. She's making it more and more lately!

Her happy face :)

You can see how windy it is with her hair blowing, but here she is telling us she's 7 months!

More pictures

The other night we were playing with her on the couch, and all the sudden she grabbed the blanket Aunt Melissa made and started eating the tags. She loves little things that she can grab onto.
Giving Dad a hug

And giving Dad a kiss

"Enjoying" peas :)

I think she thought that if she left it on her tongue it would go away.

Gotta run! She just woke up from a nap, and I hear "blah, blah, blah, blah, blah" coming from her room. Oh, and a little "uh, uh, uh" too! :)

6 1/2 months

OK, I have a few more things to update. I don't know where the time goes.... At Camila's 6 month appt she weighed about 16 lbs 6 oz, which puts her in the 50 percentile. However, she's only 25 1/4 inches long, which means she's short - only the 30 percentile! Fabricio says it's not surprising, she's taking after him! :) I'm guessing she's up to 17 lbs now, as I took her to the doctor earlier this week to check on her cough, and she was just shy of 17 lbs. Anyway... She loves passing toys from hand to hand, making things rattle, and pounding on things (like counters) with her hands or toys. She puts everything in her mouth, including my hair. She really enjoys drinking out of a real glass, but isn't too fond of the sippy cup. We tried both the Playtex and Nuby sippy cups, and the Nuby cup is great for playing and some drinking, but she only really gets excited (I'm talking kicking legs and swinging arms, and mini-grunts of excitment) for a real glass. She just loves playing with the water; about 90% ends up on her shirt rather than in her stomach! She's up to 7 oz bottles at daycare, but formula is still hit or miss. Sometimes she'll take all 7 oz, sometimes it's only 4 oz, and sometimes she completely refuses. I've given up worrying about it; it's not like she'll starve herself. She smiles EVERY time she sees Fabricio, as she knows it's playtime. She really enjoys when he gives her a bath, because they get a lot of playtime afterwards. Because I have to bring her to daycare, we wake her up around 6:00 every morning (M-F). Sadly, she cries the entire time Fabricio gets her changed and dressed. The poor girl is so tired! The only good thing is that she crashes at night, so there's no doubt in my mind that after I feed her, zip her into her sleep sack (we stopped swaddling around 6 months - basically did it cold turkey) and close the door she'll go right to sleep. She still loves to suck on her lower lip (her way of self-soothing.) The minute I lay her down she turns her head to the side, starts sucking on her lip, and brings one of her hands up near her face. I'm not sure what that's all about, but it sure is cute! Lastly, she's still not rolling over consistently, but the Pedi says it's ok. Camila doesn't get as much tummy time as she should, as it's really difficult to get a lot of time in when we have only 2 hours with her at night (and during that time we have to feed her, bathe her, nurse her, and get her ready for bed.) She sits up on her own with no problems, so at least she reached that milestone! We'll just have to increase her tummy time on the weekends. OK, that's all for my written update. I'll try to post a few more pictures this weekend!
