Happy Birthday

The 27th was my 30th birthday (ouch). Since it was Monday, we decided to do something on Saturday. We had Juan, Anna, and Tom over for a BBQ, and we had a good time. My family (from Ecuador and Chile) called on Sunday. I also received virtual cards and real cards. It was overall a fun birthday (I guess - considering I turned 30!).
On Monday we had our pre-natal visit with our pediatrician. It was fine. It was mostly to get to know a little more about the clinic and their views on things. It was the first time we've been in a noisy waiting room - lots of little toddlers running around, opening doors and running back to the exam rooms, etc. I believe Mel and I are satisfied with what we saw, and will go with this clinic. We also had our third pre-natal class (out of 8) on Tuesday. The first 3 classes were on labor & delivery. Sept 4 will be a tour and a visit with a pediatrician, weeks 5-7 on infant care, and week 8 on breastfeeding. The question is, will Camila arrive before our last class (Oct 2)!?
I believe this weekend we will buy the car seat - stroller, which is a gift from my brother Chino. I want to make sure that I know how to use it way in advance so I'm not struggling with it at the hospital!

Finally - Updates!! 31 weeks

It has been a while since we posted anything. Honestly, we have been kind of busy. Between pre-natal classes, registry decisions, and our daily stuff, we have had very little time. Anway, this picture is at 31 weeks. Mel will probably update this entry later.
Fabricio did a good job of explaining why we haven't updated anything in weeks! When I get home at night, I'm too tired to even THINK about getting on the computer. :) Our weekends have been kind of busy (Babies R Us is a standard weekend trip now!) Anyway, here's a picture of me at 31 weeks. While I may not look too different from the back, there's no mistaking the huge belly from the side!

bedding

Here's a picture of the bedding we decided on. It's called Clover Fields. The baby's room is dark blue and tan, and we won't be repainting it. So, we needed to find something that matched the room but was appropriate for a girl. Plus, this has some red in it that matches our drapes! I can't wait to see everything put together, but it will be a while yet as the crib hasn't come in yet (should be here in the next 2-4 weeks.)

Third trimester

I've officially entered the 3rd trimester! This is actually a picture from last Monday (26 weeks) but you can tell that I've got quite the belly now. To be honest, I didn't realize just how pregnant I look until I saw this photo! I've been feeling pretty good, up until now. I didn't realize how lucky I was during the 2nd trimester; I felt wonderful essentially all the time! Now I'm struggling with fatigue (again), heartburn, difficulty breathing, leg cramps, etc. And just think...13 weeks to go! The baby is moving quite a bit now. Her kicks and punches are now visible on the outside of my stomach. She's definitely getting stronger! We reserved a day care spot on Friday (July 13). We were originally looking into a home provider, but didn't have any luck. Most didn't have the hours we need (basically from 7-6), several didn't have any openings for next April (Fabricio will be home with the baby after I go back to work in January,) and the one lady we found ended up being kind of a flake (cancelled our appt and then the morning of our rescheduled appt she wrote and said she already filled the spot. So, we went with a child care center in Eden Prairie. The hours are perfect (6:30-6:30), they will hold our spot until we decide to start, and we don't have to pay anything before we start. Some places make you start paying once the spot opens up even if you don't use it, otherwise you loose your spot. The staff was really nice, lots of spaces/rooms for infants, and we just felt really comfortable there. I feel so much better having that taken care of!! Now it's just time to focus on stuff for baby at home!

Postponed our Document Burning Ceremony

It was too HOT this weekend to have our document burning celebration. We went to my parents for dinner, but considering it was 95 degrees there was no way we were starting a bonfire! We even brought our camera so we could share pictures. But, we'll look to try again this coming weekend. As Fabricio said, it's not an urgent need, but just something more fun and symbolic. We could use the shredder, but that would probably start on fire! I've had a couple of people tell me that I look like I've popped a little in the last week, so I'll have to post another picture soon. I know not too many people probably agree with me, but I am looking forward to the cooler week ahead! 70-80 degrees? SURE! 90s? No thanks, I'll stay inside! :) I'm not sure what happened to the rest of my post! I came back Tuesday afternoon to look at the blog, but the last paragraph disappeared; must be user-error! Anyway, I just wrote that Fabricio and I went with Anna and Tom Vogel to the Science Museum on Sunday to see the Pompei exhibit. Interesting artifacts; plus, it was inside so no 90 degree weather! :)
